這次的行程原本想比照過去的經驗買個旅遊平安險就好，
但發現U.C Berkeley要求國際學生都需要購買適用美國當地的醫療險，
不然不給你學生證.....
而且對保費還有詳細規定。
U.C. Berkeley Health Insurance Requirement
Medical care in the U.S. can be very expensive. Hospital costs can average $4,000-$5,000 per day.
Health insurance coverage is required to meet these unexpected expenses.
You should purchase a health insurance policy before you arrive in Berkeley.
This policy should cover all medical and hospital costs,
or provide you with a minimum of $50,000* (U.S.D.) for each accident or illness,
have a deductible of $500 or less,
and cover at least 75% of hospital and physician costs
from the time you leave your current residence to the day you plan to return.
理賠金額要50,000美金以上，
個人負擔需低於500美金，
並能理賠75%以上的醫療支出。
這代表國內一般的旅遊險都不適用，
後來多虧同組的Tim哥提供了gateway這家公司的資訊。

Gateway的Student Travel Insurance Plan中Patriot Exchange就符合U.C. Berkeley的規定～
不過只有Standard符合，
Basic就不行了。
像我保五萬美金的方案，
兩個月期只要USD 102.10，
大約台幣2900左右，
算是蠻合理的選擇。
進到Gateway網頁後，
選擇Individuals－＞Student Travel就可以看到Patriot Exchange的選項，
然後點選右側的Apply Now把表格填完，
要選Standard版的，
Basic不符合需求，
之後刷完卡就完成了！
付完款後會用E-mail寄確認信給你，
當然也可以要求實體信件，
但從美國寄海運到台灣要多久？
快遞的話還要加USD 20，
乾脆就E-mail弄一弄就好。
當然我有看過其他家的方案，如Anthem。
以內容來看Gateway不算是最好的選擇，
但我只要去兩個月，
Gateway保費低，自負額也低，
加上網路申辦方便，
算是到美國短期留學或旅遊相當方便的選擇。
不過這個方案主要是以美國當地的醫療保險為主，
由於我的行程還會中停日本，
我想應該會再另外買個旅遊平安險吧。
